My 12 yr old boston terrier started having diarrhea and some vomiting about 6 months ago, I would take him to our regular vet he prescribed anti diarrhea meds, sometimes nausea, he tested him for parasite  and was negative, de wormed him anyway. Gave him an antibiotic for 7-10 days, he was somewhat better stool was firm again several weeks went by and yet again water straight out no firmness at all or anything straight water, would go out many many times a day and strain to try and go with nothing coming out. arched back from squatting so much he was dehydrated couldnt hardly walk weak back end, no eat hardly drink. vet gave him dewormer again shot for back steroid anti diarrhea and vomiting meds, 5 days went by he was still squatting and this time it was like pudding instead of water, he was eating and playing normally drinking water other dog had an apt for nail trim and told vet he was better but still no firm stool and he gave me another emd just for diarrhea i gave that to him friday and saturday he was eating and his stool firmed up perfectly. Sunday morning same thing as before, i get out of bed he would not get up I had to get him up and sit him down he walked around very weak, would not eat or drink, shaking, somewhat heavy breathing, took him back to vet this past monday he was majorly dehydrated they gave him 200 ml under skin water another diarrhea med and vomiting med, this time they did  nothing last time h was on those the last episode he went home and ate and drank that same night, he hardly slept would just lay around with eyes open shakaing and heavy breathing, throwing up water after drinking it throwing up foam and thick saliva was drinking excessively on tuesday every 5 10 minutes  he would jump up and try to walk to the bowl, drink and then come back lay down and throw up, I stayed up with him all night tuesday he got progressively worse as the night went on, fell over a few times he stretched out moaned a little i rushed him to the ER he was in a coma and later died resp arrest, I am driving myself nuts trying to see if maybe it was all my fault if I should have taken him to er sooner  had an apt same day for bloodwork by our vet. sorry for such a long history but maybe anyone who suffered same exp I just have no clue what happened, he was playing being funny his normal self sat night then sunday morning bam. thanks

Just out of curiosity, what were you feeding him?  The reason I ask is because his symptoms sound amazingly similar to the symptoms of the dogs who are getting sick and dying from eating Purina foods.
