2 day puppy bulging eye

My westie puppy was born normal.  She is now 3 days old and I notice one of her closed eyes are bulging out.  What do you recommend.   Do you think the dam might have stepped on her?

If Myown doesn't like reading these posts why is she here?  Judge, jury and executioner?

The original post was a question and I agree with Peek - hopefully the puppy has gone to the vet.

Ok, ok! Calm down, Myown. This wasn't a personal attack and I don't want it to become one either.
I agree that the ones about the animal being hit by a car or having a broken leg or whatever and the owner doesn't take to the vet bothers me a lot too. But those two posts that you mentioned I didn't see that the owner was being cruel or not wanting to take the dog to the vet. The one with the bulging eye, it sounded like she just found it. I could be wrong but it couldn't have been more than a day or so. You're right, though. The puppy should have been taken to the vet as soon as the owner saw it.
And maybe I was tired when I read the one about the ear infection. I didn't realize it was two months. My dog has had a couple of ear infections and I didn't realize it right away because of the floppy ears. But of course I took him to the vet and got the medicine as soon as I realized it.
I don't think these owners are being necessarily cruel or uncaring towards their pets. I try not to judge others until I've been in their shoes. We don't know their whole situation.
Myown, I'm sorry I said anything. I didn't mean to upset you. I'm a animal lover too. I rescued both my dog and cat from the Humane Society. Forgive me for upsetting you.

Its hard to read these posts day after day after day after day.  I get frustrated.  Now, I try not to read them.

I've been called names for urging people to take their dogs to the vet.  For reminding them that no matter what the money situation is, in an emergency an animal has to be cared for.  Its not only the right thing to do, its the law in every state of the nation.

Hopefully, the original poster has done just that.  On re-reading the post, there is no suggestion that he/she won't take the puppy to the vet.  Hope everything is ok.  That puppy needs attention.  It could be critical to saving the eye.  And I bet its very painful.

Unfortunately, its the puppy's young age that makes it critical to go immediately to a vet.
Hopefully, the owner has done that.

Myown, that was pretty harsh. What's gotten into you? It's not like she's let this go on. The puppy is just a few days old and was born normally, which means the bulging eye just happened. It's also difficult to tell things that early since they're so tiny and glued to their mothers side, usually. I was always told to not handle newborns that early. I'm sure she's doing the best she can. Please try to be kinder. We're here to help each other.

Margaretta, it's possible the puppy was stepped on but it could be anything. It could be a tumor behind the eye or anything. There's just no real way for us to know. We're not vets on here. Please take the puppy to the vet as soon as possible and get it checked out.

And it doesn't matter if the dog stepped on her at this point. Thats not the problem right now. Making sure she is not suffering is important.

The puppy needs immediate attention from a VET. Maybe he will say she will be fine, but she still needs to be checked out. People should have to take a test before they can own a dog.
