Acute Sudden leg pain

A couple of days ago my dog started having sudden severe pain attacks. It seems to happen at random times when walking or lying down. He will yelp, scream and try to get away from the pain for minute and then it is done. He will often then come and climb on you or against you (he's a full size dog - not a lap dog). He seems to favour the front right leg during the attack but doesn't limp at other times. After the attack he will want to be with you and seems to be warn out. My wife thought she felt a hot spot on the upper inside of his leg after an attack yesterday. He doesn't seem to be tender to the touch.
He is not eating much today and laid by my bed last night - very uncharacteristic, normally he stays in one part of the house or outside. I have not been able to get into the vet yet but have an appointment on Monday.
   Any ideas?

Well, you can try Aspirin, short term as it can have side effects.
5mg - 10 mg per lb of dog's weight.  Coated is best and give with food.
You might want to call the Vet's office just to doubke check on this.  Of course, it's Friday!  Hope you don't need the ER.
I would just keep him quiet.

I've tried a couple times and couple of vets but no go, unless I want to go after hours at Emergency rates :)
He is a mixed breed, Shepherd, lab maybe some rotwiller about 9 years old.May try giving him some aspirin and watch him close.

Yes, dog is obviously in pain.  You sure you can't plead your case and get in to the Vet sooner?  What breed and what age is the dog?  "could" be he pulled something, possibly arthritis?  Just hard to say for sure.  I would let him rest and no jumping, climbing stairs, running, etc.
