Hi,
My dog Lalique is in Kidney Failure, how much of he Tum should I give her and how many times a day? She is a 6 lb. Yorkshire Terrier with the will to live. Thank you in advance for your help.
Best Regards,
Lalipop
You should first confirm that your dog is in kidney failure by taking her to a vet for some blood and urine tests. There is absolutely nothing that can be done to cure kidney failure. Once that tissue is destroyed, it's gone forever. What you CAN do is make some dietary changes that might preserve the remaining kidney tissue and function a little longer. If your dog is in very advanced kidney failure, she'll need meds for the constant nausea and vomiting. Phosphorus is deadly to failing kidneys, so you need to give calcium in the form of (Tums antacid tablets). Calcium binds to phosphorus and helps clear it out of the body.
As to your question about Tripsy, I've never heard of it here in the States. Honestly, I doubt it will do anything at all for a dog in kidney failure. Your money will be better spent taking your dog to a vet.
