Beagle ! 1 year old, Please help

I have a one year old beagle.  A month ago she started vomiting each night.  We waited 2 days to make sure she didn't just have an upset stomach.  Other than the vomiting she is perfectly normal...eating, drinking, playing, and regular bowel movements.  We took her to the vet and they tried nausia medicine and pepcid for 2 weeks as well as changing to 3 small meals a day with special food.  They did an x-ray but did not see an obvious obstruction.  In the 2 week period on meds she only vomited 3 times.  Once off pepcid she started vomiting again.  We are now trying the rice and chicken diet, but doesn't seem to be working. The vet mentioned surgery, but that scares me being that there are no other symptoms.  Just wondering if anyone has any other ideas.

Oh, and you may want to continue the Pepcid, mat least for a while

Pick up a small bag of the Pro Plan Salmon for sensitive stomachs.  Mix half and half with her regular food then start increasing after a couple of days and I would try feeding 2 or 3 smaller meals a day.
Your Vet wants to do surgery on what and fir what reason?
