Black, elevated bump on leg

I found a small, black mole-looking thing that is raised on my 4 year old Maltese's front leg. I found this about 2 months ago, but today it started bleeding a little when it was scratched. It is very small(3/4mm) and hasnt grown since i saw it 2 months ago. It is hard to the touch and it seems like it hurts Bella(my dog) when I touch it. The bleeding is also pretty minimal, and stopped after a few minutes. Should i be worried about this? Does anyone know what this could be?

Thanks Eve. I did take her to a vet a couple of weeks ago before the bleeding happened, and the vet just told me to wait and see.. It wasn't very helpful. Maybe I need to call her again.

I agree with what eve says. All lumps or growths need to be checked by a vet. Early treatment -even if it was something very serious -is always the best thing to do to have the best results.

Hi angelali,

Things like this should always be seen by a vet. It doesn't sound like a
mole to me. You say you found it 2 months ago, but today it started
bleeding. It doesn't matter if the bleeding is minimal. It could be a
tumor and if so you need to take your Bella to the vet as soon as possible.
Good luck. Don't wait.  Your vet is the best person to ask what the
growth on the dog's front leg is. It worries me that it's bleeding. Please
bring your precious dog to your vet as soon as possible.  Eve :)
