Bladder

Bladder

Hi,
My name is Rebecca. My sister-inlaw just recieved a pekingese dog that was found at the dump.
Know her aunt was the one who had recieved it first and there had seemed to be nothing wrong with the dog. Its a male -- we think is fixed and has a very good temperment. But now, on the second day of having the dog (at his new home) he has started to pee everywhere (with no control), and also some blood is forming. We will be takign the dog to our family vet. And I have recently worked for a vet for my Co-op in school. But I don't know if this is just a primary case of a bladder infection or with this breed could there be something else we should be looking at.
My email that I'm hooked up with right know is going to inacessable until after August 29th, and then will be shut down. So if your not to busy please respond IMMEDIATLY!

Thank you so much
Rebecca.

Congrats on the rescue job!  As I'm sure you know from your own work, any time you're dealing with a medical issue it's best to look for horses instead of zebras when you hear the sound of hooves.  A UTI sounds like a good place to start diagnostic work.  I honestly don't know if Peke's are prone to these problems, but since you don't know his past health history, anything could be going on.  Let's just hope it's something simple and inexpensive.  Let us know what the vet has to say, and again, thank you and your family for helping the little guy.  :-)
