Blind puppy?

Yesterday I had an incident with my Chihuahua puppy and my son which is only 1.5 years old. Long story short my son and puppy were in the living room sitting on the couch. I simply went to go to the bathroom and heard a god awful screech/bark from our dog and a crying toddler. Now my son has never intentionally hurt her. He just doesn't understand that she is still a baby and he has to be gentle with her. He is extremely bad about picking her up by the skin on her back (kinda like mothers do with the puppies neck) and just dropping her. But he absolutely adores her.
I got up and saw that both of them were on the floor, I am assuming he has fallen on her because she acted like she couldn't stand up or walk. She also had blood in her eyes, so I tried to clean them out as much as I could.
Today her eyes look better and she can walk just fine, but can a child falling on a puppy cause them to go blind? Her eyes are extremely cloudy and she acts like she can't see anything.

The main thing I could think of with falling would be head trauma in which case, TAKE HER TO THE VET. Head trauma could be very serious and possibly could get worse.

This puppy needs to go to a vet.  NOW.  If there was no blood in her eyes and they were not cloudy before you left her and your son alone then SOMETHING awful has happened and she could have internal injuries that need to be addressed IMMEDIATELY.  It's a very bad idea to pair a tiny puppy and a small child.  Most breeders will not even sell a puppy to a family with a child under the age of 10 because the chance of something happening to the puppy are so great with a small child in the house.  A chihuahua puppy is the tiniest puppy there is, and even a 1.5 year old baby human can fatally injure one.  I know that this is not what you want to hear, but I hope beyond hope that your puppy is OK and that a trip to the vet will sort it all out.  You would be much safer rehoming the puppy and waiting until your son is past kindergarten age to get another dog.

Hi. I hope by now you have taken the puppy to a vet.
