C difficule

Dr. Cheng.   My father is in long term care and has c difficule.  The home policy is to put my father in isolation.  I would like to bring my dog in for a visit and was wondering if there was any possibility of the dog passing along the bacteria to a human?  thanks.

Somehow your post ended up in the bird section. I wish I could help you but I know very little about dogs and the zoonoses they may carry. Near the top of the page, off to the right by "My MedHelp" is another tab for "Pets."  If you slide the cursor over that a drop down menu will appear and you can click on "Ask a Vet" or "Dogs" and go there for more help. I bet the people in the dogs community would have an answer for you. There are some great people over there, very knowledgeable. The best person to ask is your father's physician. Most likely you would have to get permission from him/her before you take any animal into an isolation unit. I hope your Dad feels better soon.
