Hi. I have a 7 y/o chihuahua. He has been experiencing increasing pain all over for the past 24 hrs. Now that the vet is open I have tried to take him, but he screams in pain when touched at all. He bit when I tried so we are waiting to take him. Now will only lay around, weak when walking, won't eat or drink except out of my hand. I'm at a loss. Any suggestions?
He may have a serious disk problem. He's only 'snappy' because he's in pain, and the pain must be quite bad. He will need to be assessed by the vet.
The best way to get him to the vet is to slip him on a board. You could put a blanket on the board so it is softer. You may need someone to help you. If you can, use a board which will fit inside a dog crate, otherwise someone will have to hold him down and still on the journey.
I hope he will be diagnosed quickly, and will be okay.
