Coughing & Choking

My Chihuahua has severe bouts of Coughing, Wheezing, Choking, & Breathing problems during the night.  It seems to be a little bit better in the daytime.  I've had him to Vet's, but after spending $1,000 + he has not changed.  Does anyone have any idea what the problem may be?

It is treatable without the expense. You just need the right doctor and medicine and must be monitored, because they feel as if they are suffocating to death.

How old is your Chihuahua? What did the vet say?  There is a chance that your dog might have ashtma. Yes, dogs do get asthma and it's very distressful and can be dangerous if not treated immediate. There must be some type of treatment for it, but it's like breathing thru a small straw. Please rush him to the vet everytime he has an attack and there must be treatment for it, because they suffer without the ability to breath...the chocking means he is gasping for air, because he isn't getting any. Very difficult, stressful and life threating to a human and a dog.
