Did the groomer hurt my dog?

I am really hoping someone else has had the problem I am about to describe as I am totally frustrated right now. I am due to fly out of town tomorrow and dont know what to do. Here is what is going on.

I made an appointment with the vet because it seems like my dog is allergic to flea bites, mosquito bites etc. She would dig herself silly even tho no fleas were on her. So I called the vet and told them she needed to be seen and possibly get an injection for the allergy. I also requested a renewed round of flea meds because the comfortis seemed to not work as well for her because the flea has to bite the dog in order to die. I dont want the dog to get bit. We also live in a community where fleas are thick and living in florida, is a year round problem. So I went ahead and made an appointment but decided to go ahead and pick up the flea meds this day. The vet that I go to has a groomer connected with the office so while there decided to go ahead and let them groom her. This is where my problem started.

I left the dog with the groomer (who I had never used before). A couple of hours later I was called to come git her as she was done. When I got there her butt was all poopy and wet and nasty. The groomer asked me if she had been scooting and I said no, never had a problem. I paid the groomer and while getting ready to leave the vet said he would go ahead and see her early so we stayed and had the vet examine her. The groomer cut her to the skin in the anal area which kind of bugged me and now the area was blood red and really irritated with a nasty leaking butt. The vet checked her out for her rash and put her on antibiotics and gave an injection for the allergy but kept commenting on how that was the reddist butt he had seen on a dog. (Not like that before the groom!). I got all my meds together and collected the dog and went to go to the car. My dog took off for the first patch of grass she could find and had a bowel movement, normal in size and everything. THE GROOMER had done the anal glands without walking the dog, and the dog had a full load!

I came home and clld the vets office and told them what happened and of course they apologized for the groomer. However, that was day before yesterday. Overnite my dog is leaking and getting the poopy butt. Clear liquid mixed with small bits of pooh and now her anus is swollen and red and trying to bleed around the anus area. I did not have any problem until having this dog groomed. I am due to fly out of town for 3 days and am now worried about what is going on with the dog. I think the groomer hurt her somehow. My daughter will be keeping the dog but still I am worried. Has anyone else has issues like this?

She seems better this morning. No running poopy butt from overnite but is still red as fire. I had walked the dog before going to the groomer but I guess she didnt have to go when I walked her. I think the antibiotics are beginning to kick in. Needless to say tho, I will not take her back to that particular groomer nor allow them to express anal glands again. I will have the vet show me how to do it. grrr! Thanks for all the responses, and off to the airport I go. Everyone have a very Merry Christmas!

No I haven't. But from what you say it does sound like the groomer cut her fur too hard and too much around the anal area, PLUS doing the anal glands badly. It;s probably a combination of inflamed anal glands plus razor burn.
I would have the dog taken back to the vet, and examined, and whatever treatment is recommended, because as with all irritations, and especially in the anal area, it is very hard to keep clean and could develop into a full-blown infection, if it hasn't already.
You could maybe advise your daughter to do this while you are away? And if she doesn't like what the vet says or does (or doesn't do!) then I would say -visit another vet.
