Dog not eatting for 2 days

Ok so I had to leave my 4 dogs in va with my mom for now, as I only moved out of state temporarily and didn't want to have to take the dogs back and forth from va to tx in a matter of 6 - 8 months. Now my oldest dog is not eating, my mom called me today to tell me he hasn't eaten in 2 days and hasn't pooped or peed in that time either. We don't have the money for vet bills currently and I dont know what to do. I suggested she try some canned wet dog food and maybe some pedialyte to get him from dieing of dehydration.  I know he needs to get to the vet soon but are there any helpful ways to pay for a dogs vet bills when your hurting for money?  Anything at all would be helpful.  Oh and i've already have a care credit card but its more then maxed out, I lost my job due to the economy and have been tryin to pick myself back up, this couldn't have happened at a worse time.

Ginger is absolutely right. The Vet will work out a payment plan with you as long as you can pay for the initial examination. You have not told us what breed of dog or how old he or she is? This helps in coming up with the possible cause sometimes.

PS it does sound like your dog needs to be seen very quickly. It is possible he could have a 'torsion' or intestinal blockage of some kind. I do believe this is an emergency, so just get him to some kind of vet asap. Worry about money later (I know it's easy to say that, and the reality's tough, but dog first in this case!)

ok this is kind of an emergency, financially, isn't it? Also, it sounds like your dog needs to see the vet quickly. How is the vet back there? Is he friendly? Could your Mom, or you, over the phone, negotiate any kind of payment plan?

I really don't know whether this idea would be any use in an emergency (may not be) but do check up on this. I posted a thread back in December about charitable help for vets' fees. I admit I only researched it quickly, so there might be loopholes I didn't spot. But take a look anyway. Can't do any harm. Try and find that post of mine in the "Archives" (link at top of page on main forum I think.)

The thread was called "Vet Fees Assistance for Pet Owners"
Good luck, and I hope your dog is on his way to being a lot better soon, Ginger.
