My dog has split his nail now the middle, it isnt bleeding however it looks sore and he flinches when i touch it. Will the nail eventually drop off and heal itself? I am going to clean the nail everyday, will this be sufficient?
A dog's nail has nerves throughout the entire upper section, and any damage can be very painful. It is possible for an infection to occur as well. I would recommend having your Vet take a look at the area to see if any type of medications, dressing, ointments, or antibiotic treatment may be necessary to aid in healing and help eliminate the pain. I Hope This Helps Brenda
