Ear wash with steroids and hydrocortisone

I have a 5 year old pit bull.  He has been going to the vet for the past few weeks because of an ear infection. I am looking for an OTC ear wash that has steroids and hydrocortisone in it.  Right now he is taking Benadryl and prednisone.  I am thinking that she wants to get him off of the oral steroids and use the wash as a replacement.  I cannot remember the name of the wash from the vet but it is pricey and am hoping to be able to get something just as good but somewhat cheaper. Any suggestions as for products or recomendations?

Any ongoing meds that require a prescription are worth shopping for.  I always ask my vet for a prescription.  I usually find some reduction in cost, but not a big one, suppose that tells me my vet is more a vet than a pharmacy - I like that a good doctor who sells with small mark-up medications that are best if one can get them immediately.

We have a Westie that has had a lot of problems with skin yeast infections. He has also had ear infections for which prescription drops were used for a couple of weeks. That worked, but he still has some ear itch, or maybe rubbing is ears on the rug just feels good, I know he likes me to rub his ears as do most dogs.

Welcome....Wait a minute; an ear infection with no antibiotic? Are you sure she's only treating with Steroids...Then it must be an allergy?
You won't find an OTC earwash with Steroids because they are prescription only...You CAN find washes and drops w/Hydrocortisone for itch....You might want to look into ZYMOX products for your dogs ears.....They make cleaners & drops...You have a choice about the Hydrocortizone part....They are my favorites!  Many places sell it ....Amazon sells the line and they work wonders...At least go read the reviews..... P>S. Ear problems are almost always food related.....You might want to look into that, too.
