Fran, My Boston is doing exactly the same thing. What can I do to get her to eat?
I use to boil chicken and then mix rice ,veg-all and boiled hamburger meat for my baby.I had to hand feed him for 6months and that was all he would really eat. Also you could try putting a little peanut butter on her food.Have you tried any of the natural balnace rolls of food. They really seem to like it.If she starts to lose weight you can give her some nutri-cal to help keep her weight up.Good Luck and take care...God Bless
I don't know if she likes dry, but EVO makes kibble that is small pieces. I knew a vet that used to feed his doberman Ramen Noodle soup that is in the paper containers that you microwave, it was the only thing he would eat. Also, I'm sure you've probably tried, but how about ground hamburg thats cooked?
Dear Friends....tried the chicken broth on both dry food and wet food and no luck but last night I feed her the wet food (Cesar Gourmet Filets) with the chicken broth and I had to force feed her the first 3 or 4 mouth fulls which is not unusal and then she ate the rest by me feediong her by hand which I don't mind only when she spits it out it also seems to have something to do with the size of the food which I have to be sure is very small if you have any other suggestions please let me know.........Thanks
She sounds like a VERY smart dog, you better be careful that she hasn't been ordering out for pizza, maybe thats why shes not hungry. Its good that she still has lots of energy. Good Luck with trying other foods, it can be very frustrating, I know.
Thank you both I have tried the baby food and she likes it out of the jar but not on her food have not tried chicken noodle soup but will today and see what happens ...she has not lost any weight and is very active for 10 years old likes to play and go for walks, she is also paper trained and goes does her bussiness in a pottie box which is plastic dog bed lined with pad and then newspapers and when she does something she barks at me and scratches on the floor to let me know she wants the paper changeed and told she is a very good girl.Ireally think her problem is she has me very well trained..Thank you for you suggestion....Fran7980
I agree with lindapalm put some chicken broth on her food.Sometimes when they dont want to eat it really helps.Your vet or a pet store should have Nutri-cal which is a paste that has alot of calories in it to help make sure that she is getting what she needs as long as she isnt eating much of her food.It works really well to keep there energy up and there weight and they seem to like the taste of it.You can boil chicken and use it and the broth and put a little rice in it and that helps to .Which i saw that you have tried the chicken.Has she lost any weight and how is she feeling?Well i hope that she feels better soon.Keep us posted.Take care and God Bless
Shes drinking enough water, which is good. Have you tried baby food, without onions? It wouldn't be the best thing for her, but better than nothing. Also, chicken broth with rice, or chicken noodle soup. I'm sure someone else will read this and have better ideas.
I have tried every dog food on the market dry wet and frozen and raw meat and rice and hamburger and she will eat some people food but you know what that does and yes she does drink water at least a cup and 1/2 a day i'm at a loss as what to do next I have hand fed her and after about 3 or 4 mouthfull she might eat on her own??? interesting last night I gave her a little chicken that had soy sause on it not much but she ate her food when I mixed it in and this AM I tried a few drops on some chicken I had her and mixed it in and she ate it too??? You name it I have tried it.....Thank you Fran7980
Will she eat any food but just not dog food, or nothing at all?. I would switch dog foods to something she might like more, preferably something without grain, or maybe try canned food. Maybe shes just tired of her brand,is she drinking enough water?
