Gunky, bloodshot eye

My dog, Toby, is a 4 year old Cavachon (Cavalier spaniel, bichon mix). Today, I noticed something wrong with his eyes. One just has clear gunk in it, but the other has the clear gunk, is bloodshot and he hardly opens it. It doesn't seem to really irritate him, but when I pet him, he tries to make me rub his eye and he also tries to rub the gunk out occasionally. I'm not sure if this is relevant but he also vomited two times yesterday. I'm just wondering if he'll be fine, or if I should take him into the vet. Thank you.

Yes!  Definitely take him to the vet!  He could have conjunctivitis (pink eye) and gone untreated it can cause blindness and a host of other problems.  It could be allergy related also and that would mean he would need an antihistimine (like benedryl).  He is obviously uncomfortable and it sounds like it is not going to go away until treated.

Yes, this is a case for a veterinarian.  Since there's discharge present, he probably has an infection and needs antibiotics.  Then again, there's a whole host of other conditions that could cause his symptoms - all of which need medical treatment from a vet.  Since he's rubbing at the eye and not opening it normally, it IS irritating him.  No point it waiting - call your vet.  :-)
