Happy New Year to all our members on the Dog Community
As the New Year begins, it's always a good time to reflect upon the past. Our hearts go out to those members who's dogs have crossed the Rainbow Bridge. We hope the warmth and caring of those on your community have helped you, and that you will help others in need this upcoming year.
Congratulations to all our new pet owners, and the best of health to all our dogs on the community!
This thread is for you in 2015 - tell us about yourself and your dog!
My dog is 11.2 pounds and is a 12yr old Party Mix colored ShihTzu. She's the world's best companion, kind-hearted, and keeps a watchful eye out for strangers. She can do 8 tricks, the cutest one is when you ask her to open her crate door by saying , "touch touch" --- she walks over to her crate and pushes her paw on the crate door and it swings open :-) ..she proceeds to walk in and looks at me with those big eyes hoping for a treat!
What a great idea to have some fun. Love the costume!!
My husband and I are retired and live in Central Calif. we have 3 grown children.
I have always had dogs of various breeds since I was a kid. I showed Shelties in Confirmation and Obedience for a number of years. I have done some breeding and belonged to the large Sheltie Club for years. I did referrals and was Education Co-Ordinator. I used to take my dogs to my children's schools to educate on the importance of Spay/Neuter, proper care, etc. dud some Obedience Demos which they loved.
We were involved in Greyhound Rescue for some years and adopted one ourselves. After we lost him to Lymphoma, decided that maybe we would be without the responsibility of having a dig around. That lasted about 3 months when one day Indecided I wanted to see our new Shelter. We now own a Chi mix named Lexie who is about 3 now.
Wishing you and your family a very Happy 2015 too Cheryl!
And yes, my thoughts go out to those good and well-loved dogs who have gone first over the Rainbow Bridge (to check out the amazing landscape there....run and play with their friends....pee on everything without getting scolded!....play Heavenly Frisbee.....and get ready for their owners to join them one day!)
I haven't got another dog since my sweet girl Misty passed. But I have 'inherited' a cat instead! A tortoiseshell girl. A total culture shock for me being a 'dog person'! But she is a little Soul who needs a friend, and I do my best.
Blessings to all those who have loved and lost a very special dog.
And all the very best to everyone here for New Year.
