I agreed to adopt a little yorkie that had been abused. Someone burned the bottom of his feet, and his ears. Once I got him home, I noticed he walks tilted to the right, and stops every few steps and walks in circles. could he maybe also have head trauma? And if so, can this be treated?
Bless your heart for taking in this poor little guy! Dogs that have been abused and then adopted always seem to know that their lives have been saved and will reward you thousands of times over with love, affection and loyalty.
How long ago was he burned? That's a HORRIBLE trauma to have to endure! Since his ears were burned, it makes me wonder if he has some type of inner ear infection that somehow resulted from the injury to the ears? Head tilt and circling are indicative of an inner ear infection because the balance is affected.
It would be best to take him to the vet and have him examined. It might be that something as simple as a course of antibiotics can clear this up. Head tilt and circling can also indicate the presence of something serious, like a brain tumor, but since his ears were part of what was burned, it makes me think more that it is connected to the injuries. A simple examination by his vet will be able to detect the presence of an ear infection if there is one. If not, the vet will know where to go from there to determine what the problem is.
I wish you many happy years with this little one. Please post back after you have seen the vet and keep us updated on his condition and progress.
