Heart med for Dogs- any good resources for Sildenafil, etc.

My Bull terrier was diagnosed with heart failure and an undiagnosed lung disease- his heart is not strong enough to sedate him to diagnose.  I have been given a couple of prescriptions but need to fill a couple more.  One of them is for Sildenafil (aka Viagra) it's original intent was as a heart med- unfortunately it had the side effect that it does and so the prices are unbelievable.  I need it to save my dog's life and can't afford it because of it's 'recreational' use.  30 tablets are going to be over $600 and he is supposed to take 2-3 per day.  

If you have any suggestions- please let me know.  If you have any good online resources please private message me.  Any help would be appreciated.  I have 6 different meds and I would love to find a really good online pharmacy.  thank you.

Which Canadian pharmacy. My boxer has a heart problem and is on 4 meds now with the latest being the generic for viagra but it's $160 from them a month! I can't afford that much for just that one pill twice a day plus her other meds. I read all the posts but any information seems to be blocked out

I have shih tzu with heart problem too. He was on 4 meds more than 2 years and just start viagra for 2 months now .  We have here Thailand , it call sidegra, produce by government pharmaceutical organizations. It cost ~1$/pill.  It would be a good option for you on cost saving.

Thanks once more for the info.  I spoke to a pharmacy in Canada and will receive the necessary med this week.  I would like to find the chicken/liquid flavor if possible but I am just glad I didn't have to pay those outrageous prices. I had them shipped to my door but they had to go through customs, so I hope no problems.  I live in Tennessee and I am going to look up the info from where u ordered the stuff u needed. I still have other things that I have to fill so this will not be cheap but she is worth it  Just keep your fingers crossed this works and a word with the man upstairs wouldn't hurt either.

tlesissy----I have never used the Viagra for any of my crew....Have ordered other things from the Canadian Pharmacy, but am now a fan of an animal Compounding Pharmacy. Do not know if they can reproduce Viagra, but I have had many things compounded through my Vet....He calls them in and I call and confirm payment...Then it's mailed to my door....I do this monthly!!! The one my Vet uses is Wedgewood Pharmacy in New Jersey...I live in Oklahoma.....This may give you another option for less expensive prescriptions.....Karla

Thank you so much, I spent most of the evening reading, calling and speaking to several pharmacies all thanks to you.  I got 10 pills last night from the ER Vet and it was $105 which is high, I can get close to 300 pills from one of the pharmacies you mention.  I am desperate to save my husky, Mischa. She was a rescue and she is blind but she is the best of all my huskies and I have a closeness with her that is so hard to explain.
Do you know how long it takes to see if the 'viagra is working? Have you heard of anyone having problems ordering on-line, I hope not cause I will go to extreme measures to save Mischa. It happened so fast that it is hard to understand, I am doing my best to be strong for her and I will always do what is best for her though not for me. Thanks so much!

Thank you all for the care and information!  I found a vetranarian pharmacy that was able to do it in liquid form- it was a lot less expensive and it is chicken flavoured so my boy loves it!  He is doing so much better.  Again I appreciate all of the concern for my furry child!

P.S. Your Vet would have to be willing to fax the perscription to them AFTER you set up an account.....That's what I had to do...Once I made an account, I had an account number that my Vet writes (Along with my name) on the script, before it's faxed...They do it for me, but I assume you could fax it yourself from anywhere (Once you had the written prescription).......They also sell generic & I was given a choice, when I spoke with them (By phone) in order to arrange payment...I use a credit card......Karla

I use a Reliable Canadian Pharmacy....My Holistic Vet is who recommended them to me because  of an expensive medication for one of mine.....I get hers for HALF the price that I would have to pay in the states......Let me know if your interested and I will send you the info.......Karla

You could maybe try this site. It's in the UK but they post worldwide, and even with shipping you will save a lot on $600.

They sell the GENERIC of Sildenafil. Generic drugs are always cheaper than brands, and always cheaper than buying through a vet's office.
I am always a bit wary of buying drugs online, but I do know that there are some very good trustworthy sites. This looked OK, but I don't have experience buying with them.

Another idea is you could ask your vet or specialist can they recommend a good place to buy the Generic of the drug you need. Tell them you want to help your dog, fast, but find the costs difficult because of your income etc.
