High fever, sleeping all day no appetite for two weeks. Help :(

Background: I have a 7 year old male neutered Italian greyhound. That is his approximate age as we adopted him two years ago from the SPCA. He was from a puppy mill they closed down in Toronto. When we adopted him he was perfectly healthy.
A year later we had a full blood test done and urine as he was peeing frequently. His blood test showed his liver ALT was at 350. We had an ultra sound that showed he was fine. Over the year it went down to about 100.

When it all started :
May 29 2015 we went for a full blood test as Louie ( my dog) was due for a dental. Blood test came back Saturday that he was perfect. He also had a blood panel taken so he can take his heart worm. This tested also tested for Lime disease which he did not have.  That Saturday night he began acting weird. Very tired, I blamed it on the vet appointment stressing him out. He had diarrhea once but it had no mucus or blood. It was also not liquid.

Sunday morning he refused to get out of bed and if I went to pick him up he would cry in pain. He also was not able to get up and ended up peeing while laying down. He refused to eat or drink. He was also shacking.

Monday morning we took him to the emergency vet. He received under the skin fluids as he was dehydrated. He had a fever of 104. They gave him a gastro antibiotic( metronidazole), probiotics and special foods. They told me that his pain was probably because his belly hurt. Still had diarrhea. He had diarrhea but it had no mucus or blood. It was also not liquid.

Tuesday he was much worse and brought him back right away. Fever was still 104. He had an an ultra sound done that showed Nothing new compared to his old one that would ring an alarm. He had an x-Ray that showed he was fine but the surgery suspected a slightly torn ligament. He saw an internalist, she said his actual joints were not far enough apart to do a tapping. He was also tested for Addison which came back negative. They said to continue with antibiotics and should be better.

Wednesday and Thursday fever passed and he was eating normally. No body pains.

Friday and Saturday  fever came back at 104 and he refused to eat. Body pains did not come back.

Sunday June 7 we brought him back to the emergency. They put him on ivy fluids and antibiotics. They took another full blood test that showed slightly high white blood cell count but everything else was fine. His protein did not go down. They kept a him for over 48 hours. By Tuesday he was eating and no fever.

Wednesday fever returned 104, refusal to eat much. Ate about half his usual amount. Soft stool

Thursday I went to a new vet as the other clinic seemed lost. He saw two specialist and 3 vets and no one knew anything. My new vet took him off the gastro antibiotics and put him on clavaspetin. His fever that night was 103.7.

Friday June 12: woke up with fever of 102.5 but still refusing to eat.

Again, Soft stool but it had no mucus or blood. He has never thrown up.

We are lost at this point. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I was thinking possible tick disease also. I don't see what area you are from in your profile.
I assume ant heart issues have been ruled out?
Do you happen to have a Vet school within travel distance?  If so, you might want to go there for an evaluation.

Welcome.....Do you have ticks in your area? Also, is this dog able to roam an area that would have ponds, waterways, creeks, etc.?? What is his surroundings outside??

What other antibiotics was he given besides the Metronidazole? The name??

Has he been vaccinated & when? ALso, what are you feeding him??? Thanks
