Hind legs becomming very weak in limp in 13 year old husky

My Husky has lost appitate in the past three weeks and his hind legs have become very weak.  I know he is old but he is very alert and does not seem in pain.  He wants to walk when he sees the leash...but when he walk his back legs will fail and he will fall from time to time.  I am concerned about the quality of his life and wonder if there is something out there that might make his legs strong again.

Our husky is experiencing the same issues, started out limping around then back legs got weak now he can't even hold himself up he just falls over when I try to help him even sit up. I took him to the vet & got steroid shot & antibiotics but that did nothing for him he is getting weaker. He can still lift his head but that's about it. :'(

But it sounded to me like acupuncture truly worked for some, so anyone who is reading this old post should consider it.

Time to be more thoughtful for your dog and admit it's time to let go. It's hard but dogs can't say they're in pain or can you always see it in their faces but they are! And any treatment is just prolonging the inevitable. It hurts but it's really the best way to show you love them.

Did you find out what the issue was with your dog? My chocolate lab is experiencing the same issues. Was the issue corrected?

Have you taken your dog to the vet yet?  If so, what was the diagnosis?

I had a 5 year old Mastiff with Spondylosis. Steroids and Glucosamine/Chondroitin worked for a while. After that stopped working, I had acupuncture done as directed. It will not work for everyone, but it worked for us. It gave us 8 years we wouldn't have had. I would recommend it.

I have a 13yr old German shepard who just went through the same thing, except he couldn't get up at all. It was like he was paralized in his hind legs. We put him on a blanket and carried him to the vet. To our surprise it wasn't his hind legs but his spine.
They gave him steroid shots for a couple of days, then send him home with steriod and pain pills. The steriods really helped, but he just isn't the same. My neighbor has recommended a acupuncture doctor for animals. Her dog lost a leg and the acupuncture helped him start walking again.
Good Luck
