I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to get rid of and kill off Parasite Worms in your yard? As in Hookworms, Tapeworms, roundworms, whipworms, ect.
I have a Large back yard with one entire stretch of dirt/sand, and one greater-area of grass and dirt ( though it is mostly dirt now because the grass has kind of died out) and some large river rocks along the back fence wall where my dog poops (thankfully she likes to poop all the way in the back of the yard, as I have 3 younge children!)
I dont want my dog to be infected/reinfected. And I'm scared to let my babies out back!
We've already treated my dog, But Does anyone know HOW or If I can treat the Yard?
THANKS!
Another thing that helps in areas that you can't use chemical treatments is DE - diatomaceous earth. It's ground up fossils called diatoms. DE is a white powder, and available cheaply and in large quantities at any swimming pool supply store. It won't harm you, but if any larvae (like flea larvae) crawl across that powder, it will get shredded to bits and killed. You can find DE in pet stores for use in the home against fleas but it's WAY cheaper to get a big box at the pool store. Of course, it only lasts until you vacuum again. I'm not wild about using it in large outdoor areas because you kill off beneficial critters and have to reapply so often. That's why most people opt for treating the dogs rather than the environment.
Don't forget that you can also help by keeping a strict Poo Patrol schedule. If your dogs are still carrying eggs, you have to get rid of their poo, so get those baggies ready!
