Im getting worried, please help

Hello, I have a 2 ½ year old sheltie mix, and live in California and I’m getting a little worried about my dog. I was giving him a bath and noticed a hard lump. It is underneath the skin, it started as an about 2 inches wide hard lump on his back between his shoulder blade right on the spin. Then a week after I noticed that it doubled in size and it is very soft, and feels like there is fluid in it. First I thought it was from the dog fight that he got into a week before I noticed it. But it is not hot, the skin is normal color. It does not look like it hurts or itches but it has scabs on it and it seems that he is sleeping more. Please if anyone has any ideas what it is please let me know. Thank you very much

my dogs have a couple benign tumors and they grew. they started off very hard but i haven't checked if they're much softer. i'm pretty sure they are though.
good luck =]

Look more at how the lump moves under the skin.  Generally, if you can kind of roll it around loosely under the skin a little bit, it's a benign tumor.  If it's in an unmoveable fixed position, it's attached to structures below the skin, and could be cancer - but not necessarily.  Time to stop speculating and just have your vet take a look at it.

Oh I see but if it is a fatty tumor, how did it get from small hard lump to a large soft lump?

It could just be a fatty tumor.  The fact that it is soft means it is probably so.  You need to get your dog to the vet to have it removed.  My dog had one once and it can become uncomfortable for them. Please have is checked as soon as possible.
