Lethargic, Weak Hind Legs, Loss of Appetite

I have a 2 year old male American Pit mix that has suddenly lost his appetite for regular dog food.  He has been loosing weight over the past week (not rapidly though) and within the last day, both of his hind legs have seemed to weaken noticably.  He has been lying around and doesn't really want to be active at all.  For some past history, up until 1 week ago, he was one of the most active dogs I have ever met.  I am very concerned because of the sudden changes in his physical abilities / attitude.  Any ideas?

Time to go see your vet.  Threre could be any number of causes for this, but you need to act now, before it gets worse.

Just curious....is he taking metronizadole?  The symptoms you are describing are exactly what my dog was experiencing. He was being poisoned by that antiobiotic. Regardless if your dog is or is not taking metronizadole....Please take him to the vet immediately. Hope you find out why your doggy is experiencing those symptoms and that he will be okay.

What your describing could be a result of many things, thus impossible for a public forum to diagnose.... Chemical Poisons, Kidney or Liver Disease, Herniated Disc of the Spine, Ticke Borne Disease, & many others can cause these symptoms.... Obviously, there's no way to tell what, without your Vet making a diagnoses....

Some of these listed are much easier to treat when caught early.....Please, get your guy to his Vet for a Full Blood Panel ASAP.....This will rule out a number of things that are dangerous and can be fatal if left untreated...

Please, come back and let us know what you find out.....I'll be waiting to hear what happened....Good luck, Karla
