Licking Paws

My dog seems to be licking his paws excessively at night and somewhat during the day, does this mean somethings wrong?

My dog does not have allergies but I tried benadryl to stop the obsessive licking but it didn’t work.
My veterinarian said some dogs may develop an obsessive pattern of paw-licking behavior that is akin to obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) in humans.  I tried iodine and many ointments with self-adhesive wrap and nothing worked.  The vet said this level of obsessive behavior may require the dog to wear something like stop dog licking paws sleeves or leggings. My veterinarian recommended posh lick protectors at
DogLickingPaws com and they are so much quicker to put on and take off and cheaper to use than vet wrap. These posh protectors remind the dog not to lick and my dog's hair has grown back. Easy solution that actually worked for my obsessive licking dog.

You know sometimes using human medicine on pets also works, Vet told me to give my dog benadryl tablets for her allergies, Now on the paws, I went through the same thing with my dog where she kept licking her paws and they looked very irritated, Well I used hydrogen peroxide on her paws than just put a baby sock on it, did it for a few days and it healed.  But always ask a vet or research and make sure these things are safe for pets...

Our dog does the same thing.  She also scratches everywhere.  I  have used every known drug the Vet has sold me, along with putting her on Science Diet food (lamb meal) which is suppose to be THE BEST for skin allergies.  Please let me know if you ever find a cure for this!

Could be a fungal infection.  It's itchy and irritating and the more the dog licks, the wetter the tissues get, and the more the fungus grows.  If you dog's paws seem smellier than usual, fungus is probably your culprit.  I got some liquid medicine from the vet to use on my dog's feet when she gets the old athlete's fungus foot going.  It only happens 2 or 3 times a year, and the treatment only takes a few days, but you'll notice an immediate improvement.
