MVD/CHF & Theophylline

My 11 year old shih tzu has had mitral valve disease for 3 years which will eventually become CHF according to her cardiologist. She's currently taking about as much medication as my elderly parent including enalapril, vetmedin, spironolactone, hydrocodone (to control the bad coughing that caused her to produce seizure like symptoms and eventually faint several times) and theophylline as a bronchodialator. She's been doing great for the past 3 years without having to tweak her meds yet (knock on whatever will keep negative energy at bay) but the online pharmacy from where I'd been getting the theophylline had stated it was back ordered, I began doing some online research and it appears as though the one or two pharmaceutical companies that make theophylline haven't produced it for the past 6-8 months with no ETA in sight. I was able to get my paws on the last 30 day supply available in pharmacies within a 30 mile radius but don't know what I'm going to do when it's gone. My vet said they use an online pharmacy that will compound the formula but it will be in a liquid formula and my dog (in actuality, my diva) absolutely will NOT take liquid meds. I'm fairly certain she'd have a heart attack if I had to force it down her 2x a day...she freaks when I try to get eye drops in one eye. I really need a tablet form alternative. Anyone come across the issue with shortages in theophylline availability and have some advice? Thanks!
