Male Dog marks in the house

My 4 year old male Shih Tzu  mostly marks on my dining room chairs but has marked on anything he can hike his leg up on.  He stained the bottoms of my expensive custom drapes which are now pinned up so he can't reach them. We adopted him when he was 2 years old and he had not been neutered.  Had him fixed in hopes the problem would resolve itself.  It has not.  I walk him everyday, and he is let out a dozen times to pee.  I have scolded him, spanked him (not hard) put him outside, you name it and I've done it.  I purchased a dog house for him last month so that he can stay in the screened porch area and have a place to rest.  He has access to outside which is totally fenced in and I'm sure he does his business but still marks in my house.  We love our little Sammy but having mixed feelings because he is ruining my carpet and furniture.  Are there any products or techniques I can use to make him stop this behavior?  Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

If you do not get all the urine smell up off the carpet or where ever they are wetting they will continue to go in that spot I use Natures Miracle best stuff in town I actually poor it on the spot so it soaks it and goes all the way down to the carpet pad then I rub my finegers up and down and then dry it up and you can repeat if really bad spot but it is the only stuff that works hope that helps they say the animals only wet when they are stuck and can not get out or the spot was cleaned but neve got the smell out hope that helps..

Hi Donna, The name of the rescue is "Peke A Tzu Rescue". Yes, they rescue Shih-tzus along with others. Go to gift shop, then apparel. They are called "911 Belly Bands". I prefer the flannel ones as they are very absorbent for leakage. The urine pads I buy are just the off brand at a discount store. You cut them in half and stick them in. Wow, what a Life & Furniture saver.   :)    Last I read, the women that makes these, had a very sick husband. You might not have a great fabric selection as these are already made. However, they have lots of choices.  These people are very, very nice!  I live in Oklahoma and they get these to me in 4 days. Shipping is included in the price. Interestingly, my guy is also 4yrs. old and his name is Samson, but we call him Sammy.  We adopted him 5mos. ago, today. Also, take time to read their websight...It's Wonderful!!!!!!   Take care. If you have any more questions, let me know..................Karla

Thank you Karla.  Can you give me the website address so I can order?  Your input will help me deal with my Sammy's output.  (:

I have one that does this, too.  I have resorted to him wearing belly bands while in the house. You put a half of a human unine pad in them to catch the pee-pee. Works great and I don't have to watch him every second. (Or clean up all the messes!)  I buy mine online from a rescue group. They make the best ones I've found!  Good luck....Karla
