My Dalmatian has stopped eating and seems very weak

Hi All,

Hope someone could give us some advise.

We have an almost 2 year old Dalmatian. He stopped eating his food the other day. He seems to be very weak. He is normally FULL of energy and for the past 36 hours or so has just been laying around and not doing much.

Some info about him...
He has not been neutered
Normally he is an 8/10 on energy and excitement
Has recently been to the vet and received heart meds, flea and tick meds... He also has some skin issue which they treated as well but doesn't seem to be working.

Any help would be great before we have to head back to the vet as we have spent about 800-$1,000 on a vet for our 2 dogs in the past month.

Thank you for the response Jerry_NJ. I will try that. Seems like this morning he was getting worse and was crying when he would stand up. I think back to the vet it must be for him. Thanks again.

Be sure the dog is drinking water, first concern.

Try some favorite foods, our dog is now refusing his normal kibble as well as the canned food.  But, he will eat boiled skinless chicken breasts.

We cooked some up to make meals for ourselves and gave him some small pieces - he is a small dog so expensive food isn't too expensive, and we don't give him much.  This got him eating better, and then I put very small amounts of chicken broth (purchased from the store) on kibble and he eats that better, but not like he used to.  We may take him to the vet as he has other digestive issues, mostly trouble controlling his need to "poop" and it is very soft, not diarrhea, but not normal either.  These are things you need to check before taking to the vet in any case.

I'd hope a vet visit and some meds for upset stomach would cost well under $100.  but I understand our little rescue Westie has cost us a bundle.
