My babygirl might have pyometra.

So I have two yorkies, one male, one female. My baygirl, Jessie, is 3 years old. Around July 4th, my two dogs mated and got stuck together. So we thought she was definitely pregnant. One day she was vomiting and had a lot of diarrhea with blood in it, we took her to the emergency vet, she was diagnosed with pancreatitis and acute gastritis, she came home a few days later, she was very lethargic but eventually got better. She's been doing so good, but since she came home from the vet a couple weeks ago she's had a lot and I mean ALOT of vaginal discharge and it's varied in color and yesterday, she had diarrhea, and the discharge was green. My mom and sister took her to the vet this morning and I guess she has a uterine infection. She just went back to the vet to possibly have surgery on her uterus.
My point in posting this is, how do you think this could've happened to her? Was it that my dogs mated and she just didn't react to it correctly? Could she have been pregnant but the babies died when she went to the emergency vet and was put on antibiotics, so that's what's causing the infection? This has been so stressful for our poor baby and us!

I think she is too. I just hope she comes out of this being happy and healthy!

The Vet will give you instructions and she will probably be fine.  Just like if you had surgery, she should rest and no jumping for a while.  The vet should tell you what to watch out fo.  She may have to wear a cone if she won't leave her stitches alone.
A female dog is spay.  A make dog is neutered.
I think your Mom is making the right decision.

And we left them alone just for a few minutes and since she was in heat he got her really quick. And we didn't know about the pancreatitis until she got sick after they mated. She's always been extremely healthy so we didn't think anything was going to go wrong like this.

Yeah my mom's deciding to get him spayed and you're welcome, of course, thank you for being concerned of our baby! And thanks for the good luck, and the pyometra's open, that's why she has so much discharge, which is better for her. Right now she's acting like herself which is great, do you know how she'll feel after the surgery just so I can prepare myself? I'll be the only one home throughout the day to watch her and none of our pets have had to go through any of this before.

Glad to hear thus was caught in time. Nthise can be nasty infections, ESP if they ate closed.
You still may want to ask the Vet about checking the male.  I hope your Mom considers getting him neutered.  It is really best fir their health in the long run.
Thanks for the update and good luck.

Yeah my mom just came back home and they won't do the surgery till monday. He said it's not a severe case so it's good we caught it this early and our vet is going to remove her uterus and all. He gave us some antibiotics to give her twice a day. Thank you for for your response! I'm going to continue to pray for her and hopefully nothing like this ever happens again.

Sorry to read this but you obviously need to be better educated in regards to your breed, dog health issues and the " responsibilities" of breeding!
Sounds like infection and she should be spay.  Why would you breed a dog that had pancreas issues?
She may have contracted an infection from the male so you should have him checked also.

Definitely a green discharge signifies infection. Whether this is Pyometra, or a failed pregnancy which has caused a uterine infection is hard to guess.
I don't know whether the vet will want to do an abdominal "exploratory" to take a look at what is going on in there or not, but when they do that they will usually take out the uterus if they find something nasty going on.
Yes it's important to get this sorted as soon as possible, to give the infection less chance to spread to her bloodstream. Ideally she should be on IV fluids as well as antibiotics, as well as surgery to really get this. The fluids will help her kidneys cope with any toxins in the bloodstream.
It may be a good idea to definitely go with the spay surgery, if the vet thinks her bloodwork and general health check comes up OK and she is passed fit for surgery..
SOMETHING didn't go right (whether it's the pregnancy or whether it's Pyometra) and the best solution for her condition and health in the future is have her spayed. Otherwise the threat will always be there. Pyometra is so common in unspayed females, and can get to the point where it is life-threatening
