My puppy is urinating on my older dog?

This weekend my puppy peed on my older dog! I have never heard of this, please help... What do I do?

How do the dogs get along in general, and how long have you had the puppy?  What kind of dogs are they?  Are they both neutered males?

As for the peeing incident, did it appear to be deliberate?  Can you describe the situation in a little more detail?

Aside from peeing to relieve the bladder, dogs will pee on various objects, or animals or even humans to mark them.  If your puppy purposely strode up to the older dog, lifted his leg and let loose, that is a sign of dominant behavior.  Maybe your older dog is just a very laid-back personality making it easy for the pup to step up to a leadership position in the pack.  How did the older dog react?  How did you react?  Did you do anything to correct the pup's behavior?

Since it appears you have a pup who is ready and willing to assume an alpha position in your home, you're going to have to be very careful as time goes on.  He won't stop with dominating the older dog.  He's going to want to dominate humans as well.  Puppy obedience training should be done by any dog owner, but it's particularly important when you have a dog with natural leadership tendencies.  He has to learn that YOU, and any other people in your home are above him in the pack order.  This is not a difficult thing to learn, but you do have to invest some time in training and educating yourself on how dogs think and work together as a pack.  

Training doesn't stop when the classes stop either.  Leading a mentally and physically balanced dog with dominant tendencies throughout his lifetime requires a different approach to dog ownership than the typically casual approach most people take.  I know it sounds like a lot of BS work, but you'll be surprised at how simple (and rewarding!) training and behavior modification can be.  Once you learn how a dog's mind works, you'll have a much richer relationship with any dog you meet.
