Odd lesions

My dog was kidnapped about a month ago and somehow made it back to the house a week ago.  Upon his return we bathed him and cut his hair to find he had a couple of lesions on hi ribs.  Upon watching them the last week, the one highest on his ribs seems to be swelling and when you touch it, it leaks from the lower wound.  I would appreciate any help on this.  Thanks in advance.

Good luck with your dog. It's pretty amazing that he found his way back to you after such a horrible thing happened! I know the kind of stress a dog feels when it's separated from its owner under circumstances like this, and the level of relief they feel when they're back with you, and home again! That's a real blessing.
Do keep us updated, and I hope he's feeling better soon.

Ok, thanks for the info.  I will try these methods and see how it is doing.  I will post updates as things progress or regress, depending on the circumstances.  Thanks again and let's pray my little guy returns to full health soon.

OK....I think I jumped the gun...(No pun intended!)....It was late and I believe I over reacted....Sorry!

Now, since you said that there are no holes or depth & you had to cut his hair to find these; could they be "Hot Spots"? With your lastest info., this would fit?
Google pictures and descriptions of hot spots and see if you think it's possible...If so, the trick is to dry them out, not lubricate.....It's takes a good 10 days to see any improvement. They can also get out of hand very quickly.......Oral antibiotics are given, but a drying agent is applied on the outside. Antibiotic creams are also used, it depends on each Vet's treatments.....

Here's what I'd do: Try using some peroxide on them; It's antibacterial & a drying agent. (It should help with the seeping).....See if you notice any difference in a couple of days....Be careful as Peroxide will take the color out of carpet, clothes, etc. It also will change the color of your dogs hair.....Try to use a cotton ball or something similiar and soak it with the peroxide...Then squeeze it over each of the wounds.....You should see a bubble effect, which is what you want.....Let me know how it goes.... Either way, the peroxide should help what ever these are...Please keep me updated......Karla

OK, the lesions may not be gunshot wounds. They may be abrasions or animal bites (he could have been in a confrontation with another dog, and laid belly-up....dogs do this to end fights sometimes, it's a signal of submission) I've seen belly (rib) puncture-wounds and scratches before from this cause.

But the wounds certainly do look infected. Leaking and wetness to them shows that. And like Misfits4me said, the swelling underneath them is a sign they are very inflamed and/or infected. If the antibiotic cream the vet gave you isn't working, then go back to the vet, because your dog may need an antibiotic shot to relly lick this.

Also, the wound is not on his stomach, it is the upper portion of his ribs.

No, No, No.  These wounds are surface only.  No depth to them and no holes.  The symptoms above are slightly incorrect as I got in a hurry and they are easily misinterpreted.  In between the wounds there is some swelling.  When you press on it, there is a puss and blood mixture that leaks out of the lower wound.  He is constantly cleaning it and we have used some antibiotic cream from the Vet.  The vet seems to not know what it is.  We took him to the vet the first day he was back and he seemed a little lost.

Oh My........You've been watching this a week and haven't sought treatment?  Bless his heart......These photos are of his stomach, correct?

"the one highest on his ribs seems to be swelling and when you touch it, it leaks from the lower wound"     means that the Hole goes all the way through (As in a tunnel)....I suspect this is a gun shot wound....The swelling means it's getting infected!

Your guy needs to see a Vet ASAP to have the wound cleaned & be put on oral antibiotics!  He probably needs something for pain control, also...This would be the same as you would do for yourself or a child that has been SHOT!  Don't delay as it will only get worse, plus it probably hurts like He!!.....Please come back and let us know what you find out....Good luck..Karla
