Odd situation - peeing on the couch

for some reason my dog has peed on the couch - i literally got up to do a few things - she came over to MY SIDE and peed.  I came into the room and sat down and the couch (NEW by the way) was soaked.  I just looked over at her and she looked at me like "What?"
THis is the 2nd time she's done this - the first time was several months ago.  (she uses pee pee pads and it wasn't even used when she did this)
what's this all about?

i just had her to the vet a few days ago they charged me $75 to tell me "She looks great!"  :)  (she has come along way) i'm very happy to hear that.  They asked about kidney function - which i had tested at the other vet's office and was fine.  I didn't mention anything about the peeing (i forgot).  We talked about her slipping patellas - doc said just watch it for now and i could try some joint medication.  glucosamine marketed for dogs is so just expensive - i'm going to look at it in the drug store - i believe i have the right dosage.  Vet mentioned something about giving her fish oil too - i'll have to look into that.
they gave me some kind of spray solution for her mouth - thats supposed to increase moisture.  her tongue is drying up a bit from hanging out.  we'll c how it works.

Is this the same dog with the joint problems?  There are a lot of things that could be going on.  It could be anything from a urinary tract infection that can be cured with antibiotics, to kidney failure, to "laziness" as a result of the leg pain.  If she's a senior dog (7 years and up) she may have lost some of the natural muscle tone of her bladder and urinary tract and simply doesn't feel the urge to go until it's too late.  Either way, it's time to head back to the vet - along with a urine sample.  :-)
