Overweight pug! HELP!

Overweight pug! HELP!

I have a dog, she is a pug. She is a very little, but very fat pug. I don´t know what to do for make her lose a little weight. I am the only one that is giving her food. once a day, 2 cups. And she also have water in her bowl all day long. She was not fat before some of my friends took care of her while I was in the states. Now, she is very heavy. I think she is around 14-15 kg. That is very much. For 1 month ago she was like 11-12,5! I take her to a walk 1-3 times a day, and she does run outside our house many hours a day!

Is there any dog food or some extra gym she have to do? She does not like other dogs, and that is also a problem. She attacks all other dogs except from my and by brothers bff´s dogs.

Hello... You don't say how old she is.....For starters,(If you have not done this), she needs to have Bloodwork done (At your Vets) to rule out Medical issues that could be contributing to this.....Thyroid disease comes to mind....Have this done ASAP....

After Medical issues are ruled out, you need to cut back on her food.....2 Cups @ day is way too much food for a Pug.....2 Cups at one feeding is dangerous for her, also....If you are going by what the bag reads to feed her, it is not correct....Labels on bags list amounts to feed, way too high!! They want you to buy more food!

If you are feeding a heavy GRAIN based food, the carbohydrates are fattening...Read the label on your food....If it contains CORN, WHEAT, SOY, you need to get rid of it & upgrade her food...She doesn't need all these grains.... Look to find a food that has Oats, Barley or Rice as a Carb. source......Preferably NO potatoes.....

2 meals a day is more appropriate instead of one.....You will split the total amount into 2 meals.....Start cutting back her food alittle at a time....Weight loss takes time and patience......Give her 1/2 C. in the morning with some green beans (Canned & rinsed) or Frozen (Thawed & cooked lightly). Green beans are a great, healthy filler to make her think shes full, but they are not fattening....She can have 1/4 C. in each meal....Chop them up.....You can also put fresh, cooked Rice in each of her meals as a filler......Do the same for her evening meal.....

Make sure she has fresh water at all times.....Good luck & let us know how it's working.....
