As a breeder, I'm telling you that this breeder needs to be notified as to what is going on. The surgeries your dog is going through is generally a genetic issue and your breeder probably has had to deal with this in her lines. She will probably also want copies of the vet reports. If she had a contract with your mother (which is a given as far as good breeders go) that should have been part of the contract. The medicine you have been giving your baby, may be the cause of the issues you are dealing with so try something else for her controls. Take care
Was just retreading your post and something may have jumped out as a possibility.
Just the other day I went to pick up some Interceptor for our Chi mix. Was told they are out of it and about everyone is due to some lab issues. Sentinel too. They had one pill in the dose I needed so took that hoping the Interceptir will be available sooner than expected. I asked what they were recommending and one was the Trifexis (sp?). I asked if anyone was reporting problems and she said some stomach issues and vomiting. I decided to pass on that one. Wonder if that med is causing problems and if she was dosed correctly. Might be something to consider and mention. I think I would stop using that medication. Not sure hiw long that stays in the system and din't have time to check it now.
Sorry, I am a but intolerant of "breeders" that don't give health guarantees against genetic defects. If your little dig is having ACL problems at this young an age, that breeder has a problem she needs to address. Ok, off my soap box. :-)
Keep us posted and hope this gets resolved.
Thanks for your reply. No, we did not contact the breeder yet. I posted a a comment on the forum. Would appreciate any thoughts you have about this. Vet said nothing about liver just want to keep an eye on her.
Thank you for your help,

Thank for responding to my concern, Mimi spayed when she was 6 months old. She is a small Chihuahua (not a toy or tea cup) but small, I had some concerns that I voiced to my mother about maybe waiting a couple of months. That did not happen. Currently, she was released yesterday afternoon with three different medicines and special dog food. All the test showed normal. She is still not eating has to put in her mouth, will drink water thought. Does not seem the same her ears are back and is not barking at all. The vet wants to keep and I on this. This is the second vet location for her. I sugested to my mother that she should get a copy of the test results for her records, that did not happen.
She is on trifextus for fleas, heart worms. When she took this for the first couple of times, she did have some of the reactions that were listed on the directions. example: itching coat, has a cough, shaking, and her anal glands real senative. I do not know if this medicine maybe to strong for her? I also think she gets a yeast infection when she is give antibiotics.
When she had her knee done, she got real red and would not stop licking the vet said to put hydrocortizone on the area that was giving her a problem.
Her leg that she had the operation on is so bad, she can not put any weight on it. And she is going in next week to have it worked on again after the vet gets back from vacation.
Please let me know if you can give any suggestions.
Thank you for your help and Best Regards

I hope she will be okay also. Just wondering if you contacted the "breeder" you got her from and if you were given any health guarantee as any reputable breeder should offer. If this breeder knows her dogs and lineage, perhaps she may be able to shed some light on this. Did the Vet happen to mention a possible liver shunt problem?
I think you are going to have to wait for the results of the tests.
Is she spayed? Is she with a good vet with a good reputation?
This could be many things, affecting any internal organ. Is the vet certain this isn't "Bloat"? (Although it doesn't quite sound like it if she has been able to vomit...sometimes they can vomit a little foamy stuff with Bloat.)
She is in the best place right now, where she can be hydrated, and monitored, and hopefully a diagnosis, and eventual treatment found.
I know how very worrying this is. But you need the results of the tests to know what to do next.
I hope she will be OK.
