I had two dogs who could find paper, any kind of paper, and eat it undetected. Paper towels would come out twisted, but they always were pooped out with no trouble.
So I tend to think that your dog either ate something else or that the dog has something else wrong. A very long time ago, a new Siberian Husky puppy got into Saran wrap during Christmas. She stopped eating.
The X-ray showed a blockage at the lower end of her stomach. Food couldn't pass through it. The Vet was talking about surgery but tried getting her to vomit first. A big blob of plastic came up. I was thinking that this might not have ended so well if that blob had lodged in her windpipe while coming up.
Honestly it is not possible to control what a dog can get into. A storm can send so many things into their play areas. The most fearful object was a Bic pen. It came out whole from a Black Lab mix.
Thank you so much for your help. As the evening has gone on she has seem to get a little better but she is still acting somewhat funny and she doesn't seem to want to jump up on the bed or chairs with us like she normally does...she seems hesitant and just stands there and looks at us. We will continue to watch her.
You may just have to take her to the vet. If it was toilet paper that's got her guts in an uproar, at least it's biodegradeable and has a good chance of breaking down in her stomach. Since she's still got an appetite, that's a good sign. If at any point she starts vomiting, or her stomach becomes very bloated, and she stops eating and drinking, you're going to have to take her to the vet or she could die. Just keep a good eye on her and within 24-48 hours if nothing changes, you've dodged a bullet.
