Poop in the winter

Can a dog be trained to poop in the same area all winter so when the snow melts it's not all over the yard?  I mean other than fencing off an area.  

Is there any better way to collect the poop when it's -40 and either it snows before we pick it up, thereby covering it, or the wind drifts snow over it so we can't see it until spring?

I don't know if you can train it only in winter? I actually got all 3 of my dogs to poop in a specific spot all year round. You should probably start training now. I had to pick up there poop and put in in the area where I wanted them to go. Surprisingly, it didn't take long at all. As for picking up the frozen poo patties (thats what we call them here) I don't pick up until the snow melts. I live in NV, so I don't get constant snow, it melts frequently, so when it does melt I put on my snow gear and armed with the pooper scooper, I pick away!  If you get constant snow, the only thing I could say is you would have to pick up immediately after they go - or just wait until spring??
