Potty Retraining

We have just adopted a basset hound rescue dog, ( 2 days ago)who spent the past 3 months in "the city".  He now prefers to use the bathroom on concrete rather than grass.  We want to change this behavior as we have a large fenced in yard & lawn. He will go in the grass when we drag him or bribe him with treats and when he does he is highly praised.  We use our other Basset Hound as a model but the new guy, Brady, doesn't follow his lead especially for #2.  We have some pretty regiminted routines regarding this task the boys must take on.
Any ideas?  Does it just take some time?  Are we doing something right / wrong? Brady is a very good boy and appears to be intellegent.  Thanks

This does take time, it does not happen overnight.
Training a dog takes time and patience and You must stick to the routine.

If he is a good dog and fairly smart, I would give him time.  Hes probably confused right now.  Just keep taking him to the same spot your other dog has peed on, when we had two dogs the one always had to pee on the exact spot the other one did, I think it was a dominance issue.

keep doing what you're doing. it took us almost a month to potty train out dog when we adopted him. you just need to be patient with him and if necessary, put up a barrier to keep him only on the grass when you take him outside to go potty. eventually, after having no other options except to use the grass, he'll begin to prefer it over the concrete. good luck and have patience! :o)
