Thanks for the suggestions.
My cute little boy is an Alaskan Malamute. Although he is not too little now.
I did some asking around of family an friends and found that everyone I talked to said the same thing about the brand I bought. I bought a Pal brand puppy food. Everyone made the comment that that brand didn't agree with their dog either. Gave them flatulance and runny stools.
It looks like the puppy in your avatar is a siberian husky and they are notorious for having sensitive digestive systems that do not mature until the are about 18 months old.
I would hold off adding anything to his kibble until then except for maybe plain organic yogurt that only contains milk ingredients and active bacterial cultures.
Any change in diet affects my dogs BMs but I can introduce him to anything new as long as I do it gradually.
We've always fed dry food unless we need to tempt a dog that is temporarily off his feed with some canned food.
Even our puppy, who came to us at around 12 weeks of age got dry food only moistened with a bit of water.
Yep, when you get that canned dog food, sometimes, the stool consistency is runny or peanut buttery...if you dog will take to the dry, your in good shape...sometimes, we take the dry food, blend in blender a ziploc baggie full, and use in bowl w/water until desired thickening, and stools have texture...but, we do that for pups who are still young and cannot seem to eat the hard yet...
A lot of breeders do that also..My dogs young and old, they get a couple of wet food bites as a treat...but, couple bites doesn't cause too much stool texture problems...
Good luck...
I follow the same feeding program with my dogs: dry in the morning and wet and dry mixed together in the evening. Are you using a commercial food formulated for puppies? My vet always insists that we use puppy food up to 14 months, but every pup I've ever had can't stand the stuff. I compromised with puppy dry food mixed with a bit of adult wet food and that was acceptable. The little twits! :-)
As to the diarrhea, that may only be a result of the diet change or the particular wet food you're using. Try it again with a different brand, and use only a tiny bit and then increase the amount each day. It might take two weeks to make the transition with no tummy troubles.
