You are not paranoid. Time to see the vet.
Three of us have responded to this. Let's see if we get an update!
Does her poop have a really bad unpleasant odour? Like something that has died (and worse) Does it have blood in it? Or blood in her vomit?
If so she will need to see the vet urgently on the off-chance this may be the Parvo virus.
You could try her with the water only for at least 12 hours (or Pedialyte) Then try some plain boiled unseasoned rice. If she keeps that down -okay. After a day of plain rice, introduce some plain boiled chicken or fish (no fish or chicken bones of course!)
That usually settles their stomach in case it is just a simple upset tummy. But be very watchful or any worsening of symptoms, or her not feeling any better, in which case get her to the vet.
How long have you had this girl if she's only 8 weeks old??? I assume she has had her first round of puppy vaccines?? Has she been out on the ground at any public area???
Is she still vomiting & diarrhea??? Has she been wormed by a Vet??? Is she still lethargic?? Has she eaten??? Please, let us know......Thanks
Is she up to date on her vaccines and has she been wormed? If she still isn't eating, she needs to be seen by a Vet and taje a fresh stool sample in with you, if you can.
Thank you, her tummy isn't bloated. Last night her stomach was warmer than normal. I was cooling her down with a washcloth with lukewarm water. Since she is drinking and passing some stool and urinating fine I put some cooked and egg and puppy food in her water to get some calories in her. Cleaners are a possibility as our bedroom where she sleeps and hangs out is also the laundry room so something could have spilled and we didn't notice. Outdoor chemicals don't get used, kids and tortoises play outside. Medicines are all accounted for and out of reach from little people.
Right now she is sleeping but was just walking around for about 10 minutes. She wakes up and checks when someone comes in the room or calls her name.
Hi. Does her stomach appear bloated? Is she stretching or arching her back? If neither, then this may just be a case of her having eaten something that had disagreed with her. If you have others in your household (children or youngsters particularly) ask them if they have given her anything since she started feeling unwell. Check around the house for anything she may have been chewing on too. Have you recently used chemical cleaners or gardening solutions anywhere that she walks or sniffs? The best thing to do with a dog that has an upset stomach is to withhold food for 24 hours, which gives the digestive system time to calm down.
One of the most common things seen in vet offices with young dogs is poisoning from human medicines. Check all medicines are out of reach and in a safe place. I'm sure you already do this, but I have to mention it.
Pedilyte is fine for dogs, particularly if they have become dehydrated. But if your dog is still refusing food tomorrow, she should be taken to a vet. I would also advise small amounts of puppy food, maybe just a couple of spoons, fed more often, until she is back to normal.
