Puppies have the runs

My husband and I have two 4 month old lab puppies, since we have had them they have had the runs really bad and really well runny. We have tried changing their food cause we thought that might have been the problem but they will be fine for a couple of days and then have the runs again constantly, we don't feed them anything other than dog food and we are not doing anything that could stress them out its the same routine for them. What could be causing this and what could  we do about it? Is there anything we could mix in with their food or water that could help make their poops solid? Any help with this would be appreciated

They are getting Purina puppy chow, Should I try a different kind of food, just in case that is the problem? How long should they be on puppy food? They are both really big the male is 44 pounds and the female is 36 pounds and they are only 4 months old so they are going to be really big , they both get 1/2 a cup of food three times a day ,is this enough or too much? I will probably take them to a vet as well for a check up just to be on the safe side.

I would also recommend you take them to see a vet and bring a stool sample also.  When I got my Great Dane puppy he had the runs really bad and I ended up taking him to the vet where she gave me some antibiotics for him and he cleared up well.  I found out about 2 months later that all but two of the puppies from that litter died from parvo.  He is now 1.5 years old and healhy.  I hope they feel better.

Have they been checked for worms?   What brand of food are you feeding them?
You really should have them seen by a vet.  Puppies can become dehydrated quite fast.
