I have an older cocker spaniel, whom of which i have adopted from a friend. of course has a skin allergy. It is due to his food allergens, and so we changed his diet and he seems to be doing better. now when i first noticed his rash i took him to the vet and they prescribed him cephalexin, and prednisone, I do not like him being on the prednisone, and i understand that i need to slowly take him off of the prednisone but i dont understand how much longer he needs to stay on the medication, and is there an alternative to this medication?
