Read this if you own a dog!

Hey everyone,

In September, on night my 4 month old puppy got into my purse and ate some Trident gum. The gum had Xylitol in it (it's a sugar sweetener). When I found him with the gum wrappers I remembered  I had read somewhere that this ingredient can seriously harm dogs!

Anyways, to make a long story short he ended up at Angell Memorial animal hospital overnight on Saturday puking his brains out and with an IV hooked up to him because he ingested Xylitol. I spent over $1000 for him to be treated. If you didn't know, Xylitol can cause blood glucose levels to drop in dogs and put them into shock, causing liver failure or even death.

If you don't believe me just google it and you will read all the horror stories about Xylitol!!!

Please keep your gum out of your dog's reach and tell your friends who have dogs, so the same thing doesn't happen to their little furball!

P.S. Don't worry, my puppy is doing just fine now - we had any other issues with him after this. Just keep your dogs away from you gum.

I didnt know that.  The beagle is always trying to rummage thru my purse and i chew that type of gum.  Thank you.              sara
