Shih Tzu elevated ALT

We have a 4 year old female, when the blood test was done it came back with a very high ATL(900) does anyone know, or have any ideas on why this is happening, she eats ceasers, and Beniful, she can not eat hard dog food because when she eats she gups it down instead of chewing it.,and this makes her choke very offen,,, what is making her ALT go thru the roof

I was hoping you would come back, but if you don't, here's a link from last week that may help you out......It would apply to your girl, too...

http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Dogs/High-ALT-Liver-Test----/show/1680276

Something else you need to do is take a good look at the 2 foods your feeding....On a scale from 1-10, Beneful would be a 0!  The Little Cesars would be a 1.......

These 2 foods have so many unnamed products that they are scarey.....They are both full of dyes, toxins, by-products & chemical preservatives, that they cannot be considered food......Each of these chemicals must be processed through the Liver & Kidneys.......

Here are some resources to study foods & how to choose a high quality product that will help your girl:

DogfoodAnalysis.com
DogfoodChat.com
DogfoodAdvisor.com
PetfoodRatings.net
411-for-dogs.com
Dogfood Scoop.com
PetfoodTalk.com

There are many, many more.......I've listed these to give you an idea of what would benefit your girl's organ immensely......Hope some of this info. helps her........Karla

Hello & welcome......Why was she having a blood-test? Is she showing illness or was this just a yearly checkup test?
Did your Vet offer any suggestions or supplements for the Liver?
What does she eat for treats?
Let me know, Karla
