Tapeworms

Hi. My 9 month old yellow lab has tapeworms. The vet gave us 2 doses of strong medicine. I have faith that the worms will be gone soon if they aren't already. I'm not worried about my puppy, but about myself. For the last few days I have had diarrhea, gas, and mild abdominal pains very similar to menstrual cramps.
I have heard that humans cannot get tapeworms from dogs unless they ingest a flea with the worms but I just want to make sure.

Any response would be helpful,
Andrea

Thanks for the input. It turns out I have the flu. I feel horrible but it's better than having worms.

I think it's rare. It's probably coincidental, but just to make sure I would call your doc.

You should call your own doctor and ask.
