my shih tzu constantly scratches and bites his skin and ears.. i have tried the benedryl and all it seems to do is put him to sleep for a few hrs.. then he is back up doing it all again. It is so pitiful.. I hate for him to have so much discomfort that I can't seem to help. I have tried oatmeal baths, baby oil, creams and nothing seems to work. Does anyone know if the claritin 10mg works? Help!:)
we have a 18lb chihuahua that has allergies also and we have to take her to the vet the other day they got so bad that she couldn't breathe he gave her a 14 day supply of meds and shes taken all of that yet she still has symtoms and that was $60 of meds we arent paying that again so does anyone have any ideas?
thanks guys!!!!! yes she weighs 60 pounds so i will try this out see if it helps thanks!!
you can give your dog 1/2 a tsp of childrens benedryl. That should help. That is what we give our dog.
You can ask the vet, however if he said that there is nothing to do about it, then he may/may not be of help to you. It can take a few days to build up in their system. I would think it would be ok as long as the dog weighs more than 10 pounds. Best wishes and sorry that it took so long to get my answer. Things have been hectic around here. I can't wait until school is out for the kids. All of these last minute projects, whew!
thanks should i ask a vet first or will it be ok just to give it to him
My friends shitzu had to take claritin 10 mg once a day just as humans for allergies. Hope this helps as you hate to see your loved ones uncomfortable!
