anemia in greyhound

8 yr old retired racer with moderate anemia and increased bilirubin.  bone marrow normal    negative xrays, sonogram      RBCs do not clump    will not eat,  but drinking   very lethargic    vet has no answers  put her on zanex, metronidazole, and sucralfate  could this be some form of cancer?

Forgot to ask how long you've had your Grey........
Here is more information. If Vets are not used to treating Greys, it is good to give them this information.

Hope cancer is not an issue but if it should be, your Vet can contact Dr. Guillermo Couto At Ohio State University, Veterinary Teaching Hospital.  He has been doing a study of cancers in Greys for years and has helped many Grey owners and Vets across the country.   ***@****.   I believe that is still good for contact or do a Google search.

I have a Grey and have helped with Rescue for some years. First off, Greys can have different blood values from other breeds. If your Vet is not aware of this, please check the link I'm sending and it might be a good idea to give a copy to your Vet to keep in the dog's file. Sorry, can't send more right now as I need to leave.
