anti-inflammatory meds for dogs

We have a 10 yr old Low Chen who is very active, healthy and loves to run. We have been taking him & our other dog-a dauschund/yorkie on rides with our bikes. They both have done very well until yesterday when Timmy, the Low Chen stiffened up so bad after his run he could hardly move. We don't feel he was over run but did notice his gait was a bit strange at times. Is it safe to give dogs any kind of anti-inflammatory drug for this such as even baby aspirin? I did massage his hips and thighs as much as possible and this morning he is moving much better. We are waiting a day before running them again just to let him rest.

I would recommend getting some Rimadyl from your vet.You shouldnt have to take him in for a checkup all you would need to do is probably call.It is really good to keep on hand.I am sure your baby is small. So you would give 1/2 to 1- 25mg tablet a day as needed.Ascripton is also a coated aspirin that can be used or baby aspirin. You would need to call your vet and check on dosing them.I used the Ascripton on my bigger babies. But on my Pekingese i like the Rimadyl once a day,Some vets say you can do it twice a day.Well let me know how your baby is doing...Chan
