black stool

Hi, my 18 month old mongrel has on occassion made a black stool (sometimes in conjunction with an initial 'normal' looking brown stool) when she has gone to the toilet and I was wondering if anybody could shed any light on what this may signify and if it is anything sinister.  It doesn't seem to affect her behaviour and she is as lively and excitable as the next dog (if not more so).

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks

Alot of times black stool is actually blood. It could be something minor, however it could be something serious internaly. I would take her to the vet to be safe. I hope all is well with her. Let me know what the vet says! =)
