cancers in dogs/cats from plastic storage containers

tmv
Hi there, this isn't a question, but I would like feedback if anyone has any. My friends dog was recently diagnosed with pancreatic and liver cancer/end stages. The vet told her that there is a recent climb in cancers of cats/dogs whose owners put their hard food in plastic storage containers/tubs. Tubs like sterilite or others from wal-mart or the dollar store. They are coated in some type of oil that gets absorbed into the food. He said that the only safe containers to use to store the food in is the type made specifically for the storage of pet food (from the pet store). I hope this may help any of you that have animal and use them. Who would ever think of something like that. I don't want to have any of you go through the agony that they have been with their loved one. He was euthanized yesterday and they are devastated. He was only 4 years old! Best wishes to all of you.

Unfortunately, cancers are common in certain breeds.  I'm not sure it has anything to do with plastic containers, but it wouldn't hurt to follow that advice anyway.

I'm more concerned about the cr@p that's IN the food.  How do we really know what's in there?  I'm very distrustful of the pet food industry now.

Sorry about your loss. I wish that they would label the plastic so it wouldn't be used for food. I don't really know, maybe they do.I hope more will learn about it and not go through all of the pain. Best wishes.

I am so sorry to hear that.  I had a dachshund come down with cancer a few years ago, but we beat it naturally.  She was having siezures and we didn't have much hope....until my neighbor brought me the remedy.  It saved her life.

I wonder now if she didn't get the cancer from the plastic.  We were storing the food in plastic at that time.

That is truly sad.
